Path to Northfork
This painting comes from a photo I took while guiding a horseback trip deep into the backcountry of Banff, Alberta. The ride from camp to Northfork Pass and back took about six hours, the longest of our day trips, but it was easily my favourite.Once the conversations with guests wound down, we’d often ride in a comfortable silence. Not the kind that feels empty, but one filled with the quiet sounds of the wild — the soft rush of streams as we crossed them, the steady beat of hooves on damp trail, and the thick, earthy scent of pine in the air.
I painted this piece to hold onto that feeling. I hope, when you look at it, you can feel some of that stillness and beauty too — like you're right there on the trail with me.
